What is DTEC?
The fact that the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) region is a dynamic center for innovative and entrepreneurial companies in high technology and life sciences is not widely known. The Chamber’s Technology Business Council partners with NASDAQ and USI to promote technology innovation and expertise here in the region and to highlight outstanding technology and life science companies.
The Greater Dallas Chamber and The NASDAQ Stock Market created a regional technology index to help give the DFW region the visibility it deserves in the area of cutting-edge innovation, high technology, and life sciences. As a state, Texas has the second largest amount of technology assets, outpaced only by California. Within Texas, DFW dominates.
The NASDAQ/Greater Dallas Chamber Index measures the health and growth of a localized technology economy by tracking the leading public technology and life science companies driving this growth, as determined by the Greater Dallas Chamber's High Tech Definition.
High Tech Definition: High technology and life sciences related companies where intellectual property is generally a core asset in maintaining and operating the company. These companies include the developers of the technology, as well as manufacturers of equipment and devices, and certain service companies.
The purpose/mission of the index is to:
- Identify key technology assets in the region.
- Measure the performance of these key companies over time.
- Give recognition to the DFW region as a broad and deep technology center.
- Foster high tech entrepreneurial growth.
- Attract venture capital to the region.
