MICROSOFT CEO ADDRESSES DFW’S IMPORTANCE TO TECHNOLOGY
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer addressed a record crowd of nearly 1,000 during the 9th Annual State of Technology, hosted by the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Technology Business Council.
Ballmer touted the greater Dallas region as one of the nation’s most important and dynamic economic areas. He went on to say how attendees should be proud of the region’s commitment to technology innovation.
“I think that in no small measure you should feel good about your efforts in really driving Dallas to be a leading center for innovation in technology, with more technology companies than any other region in the U.S. except for Silicon Valley,” he said. “It takes a lot of leadership and hard work from organizations like the Dallas Regional Chamber to create the dynamic business environment that fosters competitiveness and growth.”
Ballmer discussed the importance of maintaining technology advancements, adding that these will be catalysts for new businesses and a source of new jobs. He said the economic growth of past years was based on innovation in science and technology.
In conjunction with the luncheon was an exhibit hall featuring more than 50 booths showcasing innovative products and services. Top sponsors and exhibitors this year were Sprint and Microsoft.
Sprint featured demonstrations at their booth showcasing the company’s new products. Sprint personnel was also on hand to discuss services related to Nextel’s Direct Connect products, convergence, mobile broadband andthe company’s new 4G network.
Microsoft’s booth offered a digital lifestyle experience for attendees, which included playing the latest Xbox 360® game Rock Band, checking out what’s new in surface computer and experiencing how Windows Mobile brings together the best of the Web, PC and phone.
The Dallas Regional Chamber established the Technology Business Council to promote DFW as a world-class technology network and engage industry leaders in cutting-edge regional issues affecting the technology arena.
